INVITATION

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you register and participate in the 5th International Congress on Nonclinical Biopharmaceutical Development, BioNCiD 2027, organized by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) of Havana, Cuba, to be held from May 23 to 27, 2027, in Varadero, Cuba.

BioNCiD, a premier international forum dedicated to advancing nonclinical development in biopharmaceutical sciences, will bring together leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world to share the latest scientific advances, regulatory updates, and innovative approaches.

By attending BioNCiD 2027, you will have the opportunity to interact with specialists from numerous countries, present your research and projects, network with colleagues and industry leaders, and participate in discussions tailored to current challenges and trends in nonclinical development.

The 2025 edition of BioNCiD brought together more than 100 leading specialists from 10 countries across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, including Cuba, Canada, Mexico, the United States, Spain, Italy, Vietnam, Russia, Brazil, and Colombia, with multidisciplinary expertise across the entire spectrum of nonclinical biopharmaceutical development.

In this edition, one of our goals is to increase the number of participants and the diversity of countries.

SYMPOSIA

BioNCiD 2027 will cover the following SYMPOSIA:

 1. From Lab to Journal: Effective Scientific Communication of Noclinical Data

Transforming data into a scientific text. Interaction with reviewers and Ethical considerations. Visibility, and increasing the impact of publications. Trends in nonclinical outcome publications.

 2. Nonclinical Case Studies: De-Risking Biotech Products from Discovery to IND

Nonclinical Development Programs of Drugs and Biotechnological Products and Trends in Pharmacokinetic and Toxicology development.

 3. Navigating the Regulatory Pathway

Strategic Design of the Nonclinical Program for Biotechnological Products. Constructing the Nonclinical Modules for an IND/CTA Application. Specific Challenges in the Characterization of Biotechnologicals and Interacting with Regulatory Agencies and Managing Queries.

4. The Next Generation of Animal Models: Scientific Rigor Meets Ethical Responsibility in Biopharmaceutical Development

Novel and Traditional Animal Models: Development and use of genetically engineered animals. Challenges and perspectives. Staff training and Facilities accreditation. IACUC and its role on the nonclinical development. Home Cage Monitoring Technologies. Improving nonclinical to clinical translation. Animal welfare, behavior management and implementation of the culture of care under nonclinical regulatory requirements and the application of 3 Rs. Recognizing compassion fatigue and human-animal interaction.

 5. Zebrafish as a robust biomedical research model and its high potential for translational applications

Use of the zebrafish as a model for scientific research: from management, reproduction, and ecotoxicological approaches, as well as new technologies related to pharmacology and human diseases.

6. Alternative Methods: Accelerating the Adoption of Non-Animal Technologies in Drug Development

Next generation advanced in vitro models for mAbs and other health products for nonclinical safety evaluation. Better approaches for implementing 3Rs methods for vaccines QC. Alternatives and simulation in education. Regulatory acceptance of alternatives to animal testing.

7. OMICS and Nonclinical Studies

Methods for sample preparation, characterization of peptides/proteins/conjugates, crosslinking, pharmacokinetic studies, biomarkers identification, technologies for OMICS data generation, mass spectra data processing and database search engines, computational proteomics, functional network analysis, integrative OMICS data analysis, and system biology based bioinformatics software development.

Instructions for preparing abstracts for oral and poster presentations

Abstracts should be sent to the following email address: bioncid@cigb.edu.cu and will be published in the form of a summary book.

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee to select them for oral or poster presentations. Poster presentations will be electronic.

Abstracts for both types of presentations should be emailed to the organizers as follows:

  1. Word Length: Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.
  2. Font and Spacing: Arial 10pt font and single-line spacing.
  3. Title: 130 characters (not including spaces) and bold.
  4. Authors: Last name only, followed by a space and initials (e.g., Castro R1). The number of authors is unlimited, but the primary author must be distinguished.
  5. Affiliations: Each author must be listed by department, institution, city, and country.
  6. Title alignment: Centered
  7. Author list alignment: Centered
  8. Author affiliation alignment: Justified
  9. Abstract text alignment: Justified
  10. Tables, figures, and graphs: Tables, figures, and graphs will not be included.

Language: Abstracts for oral and poster presentations must be written in English.
