The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) is a distinctive Cuban biotechnology company, which investigates, develops, produces and markets novel biotechnological applications and preventive, therapeutic and diagnostic biopharmaceutical products, for the biomedical, agricultural and industrial sectors, for one health.

Our mission is to research, develop, produce and commercialize novel biotechnological and pharmaceutical products, with a positive impact on human, animal and plant health, and on industrial productions, in harmony with the environment. Contribute to the socioeconomic development of Cuba.

Vision

Our vision is to maintain leadership as one of the companies with the greatest scientific-technical contribution to health, and to achieve a solid international position with biotechnological innovation, in harmony with the environment, for sustainable socioeconomic development.

We offer innovative biotechnological applications for the biomedical, veterinary, agricultural, aquaculture and industrial sectors.

We have a portfolio of research and development (R&D) projects and products, protected by patents.

The positive impact on health, agriculture and the environment is the key to CIGB's work.

The CIGB was founded in 1986 in Havana. In 1989 a headquarters was founded in Camagüey and in 1990 another headquarters was founded in Sancti Spirítus.

The CIGB was a pioneer in the transfer of technology for some of its products and in joint productions with entities from other countries.

Our production facilities are subjected to periodic inspections by CECMED, and the national regulatory authorities of the countries that purchase our products.
