The Cuban Quimi-Hib® vaccine against Haemophilus influenzae type B was registered and commercialized, the first vaccine achieved by chemical synthesis in the world, a result of the integration and scientific collaboration of the Antigen Laboratory Synthetics of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Havana, the University of Ottawa, in Canada, and institutions of the Scientific Pole of Havana. The Chinese-Cuban joint venture ChangHeber was created, based in the city of Changchun, China.
