Desarrollo Tecnologíco

The Direction of Technological Development (DTD) at the CIGB have de mission to develop Bio-products using genetic engineering and biotechnology techniques. It also works on the continuous improvement of the products commercialized by Heber Biotech enterprise. The whole process of development comprises the establishment of technologies at laboratories with all required quality parameters, until scaling and pilot batch production; ruled by a methodology of integrated direction of projects, which ensures proper planning of the objectives and a systematic review of its progress.

In this direction, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) are combined and sustained on a documented quality system providing the highest quality and safety of products and technologies that are being developed.

In order to guarantee its mission, the DTD is supported by specialized laboratories in microbiology, fermentation of microorganisms, purification of biomolecules, formulation, analytical methods and a pilot plant for the production of small scale batches. It also has a well capable staff formed by scientists and technologists with experience in different aspects of modern biotechnology that include: genetic modification of microorganisms, fermentation of bacteria and yeasts, cell cultures of superior organisms, purification of proteins and other molecules, formulation and stability tests; and development of analytical techniques.
