Eulogio Pimentel (Camagüey, Cuba, 1968), obtained his degree in Biochemistry Sciences in 1991 from the Havana University, Cuba. Thereafter he worked as a researcher at the Plant Molecular Laboratory at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) of Camagüey. From 1995 to 2010 he headed the scientific direction of his institute. Since 2010 he became the director of this center. In May, 2014, he was appointed to be the Vice-director of CIGB, heading the agro-biotech direction of this center. And in October 2015 he was promoted to be the General Director of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
Pimentel is inventor of several patents related to plant biotechnology, aquaculture biotechnology and cancer biology, and is member of work teams granted several biotechnological products registrations. He is advisor and member of different Scientific Councils.
Since 2013 is Deputy of the Cuban National Assembly.
Eulogio Pimentel has presented more than 100 hundred research results in international meetings, and is author of more than 40 peer reviewed publications on scientific journals.
